Upper Frames

Upper frames are used in machinery with a revolving upper structure; mainly in shovel excavators or other derived machinery, which is used for manipulation of bulk materials or iron scrap.

Upper frames usually consist of a firm mounting base and two lighter left and right decks. The working equipment of the machinery is mounted on a mounting base with a main bearing structure. Other assemblies and units such as the cabin, engine, control panel etc. are mounted on lighter decks. Consequently, with regard to the number of mounted components, the requirements for preciseness and stability in the construction of these frames are extremely strict.

Upper frames are produced in a wide range of dimensions – from 1500 kg for smaller wheel excavators to more than 50 000 kg for large-scale mining machinery.

Commonly used materials: S 355, in exceptional cases steels with increased yield strength S460, S690.
