UNEX a.s. successfully finished assembly of a crucial KU 800 bucket-wheel excavator junction for Mostecká uhelná společnost (Most coal-mining company)
Uničov, 10 February 2004 - The engineering and metallurgical complex UNEX a.s., producer of technological systems, machinery parts and castings, is the main supplier of new parts for the overhaul repair of the K 75large-capacity excavator in Mostecká uhelná společnost.
The most important part supplied is a gearbox for wheel actuation (the boom weighs 564 000 kg). This type of gearbox is very sophisticated and difficult to produce since it has used new technical solutions for transmission input. Lifting a loading boom on a transfer boom of the K75 large-scale excavator was the high point of the overhaul repair. Another important moment of the repair was connecting the radius to bucket-wheel boom. As part of the overhaul repair UNEX a.s. performs disassembly and assembly work, renovation of old parts and the production of new ones.
K75 is one of 24 large-scale excavators produced in Uničov with the main title KU800. K75 is the first machine that uses a hydraulic stepping system for movement. The excavator does not move on tracks but steps on feet with the help of hydraulic cylinders.
One of the goals of overhaul repair was to boost the virtual rating of the bucket-wheel excavator when excavating rock with a specific resistance lower than 140 kNm-1. The intended average value of one hour rating in non-bursted rock ranges from 2 200 to 2 500 m3 s.z.h-1. Consequently, the excavator will be able to excavate approximately 10 mil m3 of non-bursted rock per year. Tentatively scheduled working hours range from 4 000 to 4 500 per year.
14 months of continuing overhaul repair will be finished in spring. Just the production of a new gearbox for wheel actuation took 9 months. The number of UNEX operators working on the site totals 50.
