UNEX a.s. Goes Robotic

Uničov, Monday 24th January 2005

The metallurgical and engineering complex UNEX a.s., producer of technological units, mechanization parts and castings, has put into operation a Japanese FANUC ARC Mate 120iB welding robot. The robot will be used to weld sub-assembly parts weighing up to 350kg, and in particular for welding batch-manufactured parts. The equipment is supplied by ARC-H Plzeň. The ARC Mate 120iB range of robots is a six-axis modular-designed family of robots powered by electric servo drives. It is designed for precise and fast welding and cutting tasks. This series of robots offers reliable performance together with high productivity; they have the highest movement speed in their class.

This is the first robotized site in the history of the company. When we have completed the operational test phase, we expect this investment to bring increased work productivity, higher quality welded parts, simple and guaranteed reproducibility with batch production, and elimination of the human factor in the welding process. This year, as part of a strategic program of innovations, we are planning to start operating a series of additional robotized worksites”, said Unex General Director.
