             Division Snina

The company Vihorlat Snina was established in the year 1950 and in the following year production was officially started, namely with 220 employees. Gradually, new establishments were associated with the first plant. In the year 1963, the plant in Michalovce was affiliated to Vihorlat, in the year 1973 the Medzilaborce one and, finally, in the year 1975 the Sobrance one. In the enterprise there were produced presses for pressure die casting of metals, moulds, linear hydraulic motors and hydraulic elements for the automobile industry, bridge cranes, steel structures and central heating boilers.

It was necessary to solve the location of development workers, and therefore, namely in the year 1981, a modern building of the enterprise development plant was established. Due to insufficient premises in relation to the production of cranes and crane tracks, the decision to construct new hall SM-4 was made. The new hall was finished in the year 1983.

In the year 1988, the national enterprise Vihorlat Snina was shut down without liquidation, and all the corresponding rights were ceded to Vihorlat s.p. (the state enterprise) Snina. Two years later, the plants in Michalovce and Medzilaborce were separated. In the year 1992, the National Property Fund established the joint stock company Vihorlat Snina, a.s. and on the grounds of a decision of the Fund, the joint stock company VSZ, a.s., Kosice became exclusive owner of the company. In the year 1996, the plant in Sobrance was shut down.

In September 2000, a petition for bankruptcy was filed and on 1^st December 2001 the production plants as well as the intellectual property were purchased by the company Vihorlat, s.r.o., Snina.

In the year 2007, the UNEX Group, namely for reason of a lack of capacity for the production of cranes, jibs and welded structures in the parent plant in Unicov, expanded with the acquisition of key assets of the premises of the former company Vihorlat Snina in eastern Slovakia. The production in this third production plant is 100% realized by the subsidiary company UNEX Slovakia, a.s.
